Tenoshima is a modern Japanese restaurant in Aoyama, Tokyo.
We would like to change the image of Japanese cuisine, which has been considered rigid and high-end. We believe that Japanese cuisine can be more enjoyable and relaxed. With our interpretation of indigenous Japanese dishes and local quality ingredients, we hope that Japanese cuisine can be more approachable to people of all ages from all over the world. Our ideal restaurant is where one can feel a sense of unity with the host and its guests.
We also desire to raise awareness of Japanese cuisine and deepen one’s understanding of it through workshops and events that we offer.

The owner of Kikunoi, Mr. Yoshihiro Murata, said:
“The real thing always seems to be just a fake, a fake always looks like the real. The real seems to be too simple. However it has a charm that can be loved after 20 years, even after 100 years.”
We use fresh local ingredients directly from farmers and fishermen from all around Japan, especially from the Seto Inland Sea. We sincerely care about the seasonal ingredients available. We take advantage of classic Kyoto cuisine techniques and presentation cultivated over generations.
